Cavs Draft Two - Trade for One

Cavs took two in the 2009 draft.

With the 30th pick of the first round the Cavs took Christian Eyenga. Eyenga is a 6-5, 210-pound forward averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots in 25 games with CB Prat Juventud in Spain. Basically, he is SUPER raw but athletic. It was super cool to see he get drafted and go up and get his hat. He looked really happy. Click here for some NBADraft.net info on him.

With the 46th overall pick (16th in the 2nd round) the Cavs took Danny Green from North Carolina. Danny is a solid ballplayer and will probably get a good chance at making the team. Here are his career TarHeel stats.

Cavs also went ahead and bought the rights to Emir Preldzic from Phoenix. Preldzic is a 6-9 Slovenian forward who is playing in Turkey. Here is his player file in Turkish if you're nasty. Apparently our Euro Scout are the more excited about him than Christian.

June 25, 2009 - The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired center Shaquille O’Neal from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for forward/center Ben Wallace, guard/forward Sasha Pavlovic, Cleveland’s second round pick in the 2010 NBA Draft (top-40 protected) and cash considerations, General Manager Danny Ferry announced today.

Z is a great dude. Here's what he had to say: “There are no greener pastures for me, I’ve been a Cavalier and I’ll always be a Cavalier.”

Z has always been a stand-up guy. He has had a great career and I hope he ends it in Cleveland. Yes, the Cavs may go after a big with quicker feet, but i guarantee that a 7'3" center with soft touch and great hands around the rim with always get minutes with us.

Please thank him for letting us steal his youth (compare with Z in 1997 and Z in 2009)

When its all said and done, he'll be the all-time leader for games played, rebounds, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, personal fouls and blocked shots. He'll be up there in a lot of other categories too. I am looking forward to showing my kids #11 in the rafters.

NEW YORK -- LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the 2008-09 Most Valuable Player presented by Kia Motors, was a unanimous selection to the 2008-09 All-NBA First Team, the NBA announced today. Joining James on the First Team are Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat.

James, who earns First Team honors for the second straight season, ranked second in the NBA in scoring (28.4 ppg), eighth in steals (1.69 spg) and 10th in assists (7.2 apg) to go along with averages of 7.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks. James guided the Cavaliers to a franchise-best 66-16 record overall and a 39-2 mark at home, both tops in the league. James was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month four times (November, January, March, April), tying Kevin Garnett (2003-04) as the only players to receive the award four times in one season since the NBA began voting for Eastern and Western Conference Player of the Month separately.

Bryant led the Lakers to a Western Conference-best 65-17 record. Bryant earns his fourth straight First Team selection and seventh overall. Among active players, only Tim Duncan (nine) and Shaquille O'Neal (eight) have more First Team selections.

Howard, an All-NBA First Team selection for the second consecutive season, led the NBA in rebounding (13.8 rpg) and blocks (2.9 bpg), becoming only the fourth player to pace the league in both categories since 1973-74, the first season where blocks were kept as an official statistic. Howard led the Magic in scoring (20.6 ppg), while shooting .572 from the field. His 63 double-doubles ranked second in the league (David Lee, New York, 65).

Earning his fourth First Team selection, Nowitzki was the league's fourth-leading scorer (25.9 ppg), while also averaging 8.4 rebounds. His .890 free throw percentage ranked seventh overall. Nowitzki finished the season by scoring at least 20 points in 25 straight games, the longest such streak in the NBA this season.

Wade earns his first All-NBA First Team selection after ranking first in scoring (30.2 ppg), second in steals (1.7 spg) and eighth in assists (6.7 apg). He also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. Wade became only the fifth player in league history to reach 2,000 points, 500 assists, and 150 steals in a single season, as well as the only player under 6-foot, 4-inches to register 100 blocks since they became an official stat in the 1973-74 season.

The All-NBA Second Team consists of New Orleans' Chris Paul and Portland's Brandon Roy at guard, San Antonio's Tim Duncan and Boston's Paul Pierce at forward, and Houston's Yao Ming at center.

The All-NBA Third Team includes Denver's Chauncey Billups and San Antonio's Tony Parker at guard, Denver's Carmelo Anthony and the Los Angeles Lakers' Paul Gasol at forward, and Phoenix's Shaquille O'Neal at center.

The All-NBA Teams were chosen by a panel of 122 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. The media voted for All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams by position with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis.

LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers is the winner of the Maurice Podoloff Trophy as the 2008-09 NBA Most Valuable Player presented by Kia Motors. James totaled 1,172 points including 109 first place votes, from a panel of 121 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. Players were awarded 10 points for each first-place vote, seven points for each second-place vote, five for third, three for fourth and one for each fifth-place vote received.
Rounding out the top five in voting for this season's award are the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant (698 points), Miami's Dwyane Wade (680), Orlando's Dwight Howard (328) and New Orleans' Chris Paul (192).

As part of its support of the Most Valuable Player Award, Kia Motors America will donate either a new Borrego SUV or Sedona minivan on behalf of James to The Urban League of Akron. Kia Motors is presenting a brand new vehicle to the charity of choice of each of four 2008-09 season-end award winners as part of the "The NBA Performance Awards Presented by Kia Motors."

Back Online After Major Hack Attack

Sorry for the sight being down for so long.

CavsHistory suffered a MAJOR hacker attack recently.

After wrestling with getting it clean we are back online.

In the following months I will be working on developing a new format for the sight that will guarantee that hackers won't be able to bring it down.

I have no idea why someone would want to attack a harmless, FREE fan site.

Go CAVS. At least we are back up for the remainder of this amazing playoff run.

LeBron James Named NBA’s Eastern Conference PotM

LeBron James was named today as the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Month presented by KIA for games played in the month of March.
In 17 games during the month, James averaged 28.2 points on .472 shooting, 8.9 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game. James has now won the award for the 10th time in his career: for the third time this season (November, January); two times during 2007-08, once in 2006-07, twice in 2005-06 and twice during the 2004-05 campaign.

During March, James ranked first in triple-doubles (4), free throws made (129) and free throws attempted (170) and tied for first in double-doubles (12). He also ranked second in points per game (28.2) and field goals made (159), third in assists (8.4), tied for fifth in three-pointers made (32), sixth in steals (1.8), seventh in rebounds (8.9) and ranked 13th in blocks (1.3) among Eastern Conference players. He finished with 479 points, 152 rebounds and 143 assists during the month; the only other player in NBA history to reach each of those totals in one month is Oscar Robertson, who did it eight separate months, most recently in January 1965. James led the team to a 16-1 record during the month, helping Cleveland to its best month in franchise history and tying the league record for wins in a month. James also won Eastern Conference Player of the Week twice during the month (for the week ending March 15th and March 22nd).

James recorded four triple-doubles during the month (March 7th vs. Miami, March 10th at LA Clippers, March 12th at Phoenix and March 19th vs. Portland). On March 7th, James achieved his first triple-double of the month with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. At the LA Clippers on March 10th, he finished with 32 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists and tallied two blocks and two steals. Against Phoenix, for his third triple-double of the month, James scored 34 points to go along with 10 rebounds, 13 assists and had three blocks and three steals becoming the 12th player in NBA history to have three consecutive triple-doubles. On March 19th versus the Trail Blazers, he scored a game-high 26 points and added 11 rebounds and 10 assists to record his league leading seventh triple-double of the season.

In an overtime win against the Sacramento Kings on March 13th, he led the Cavs with 51 points, nine assists, three blocks and two steals to clinch the Central Division for the second time in franchise history. This marked his eighth career game of 50 plus points and third time this season (leads the NBA).

At Quicken Loans Arena, James posted 22 points and added eight rebounds and 11 assists, versus New Jersey on March 25th. With his first points of the night he became the second player in league history to post four seasons of 2,000 or more points, 500 or more rebounds and 500 assists in a season (Oscar Robertson-six seasons) and the ninth player in NBA history to have at least five consecutive 2,000 point seasons.

James finished with 43 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, four steals and one block to record his 22nd double-double of the season versus the Magic on March 17th. The only other player to record those numbers in a game is Larry Bird in 1992 for the Celtics when he had 49 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and four steals.

I still have some stuff to add, such as photographs of the actual jerseys, but the new page(s) will give the reader/Cavs historian a lot more to look at.

LBJ Wins Player of the Week Again

was named today as the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 16th through Sunday, March 22nd. James wins the award for the second consecutive week and becomes the only player in the history of the award to win it seven times in a season (The Player of the Week award has been awarded since the 1979-80 season and awarded by conference since the 2001-02 season).

In four games during the week, James averaged a double-double with 30.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.0 block per game. James has now won the award 20 times in his career, including a career-best seven times this season, three times in 2007-08, twice in 2006-07, five times in 2005-06 and on three occasions during the 2004-05 campaign.

James finished with 43 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, four steals, and one block to record his 22nd double-double of the season versus the Orlando Magic on March 17th. The only other player to record at least those numbers in a game was Larry Bird in 1992 for the Celtics when he had 49 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and four steals. His 43 points and 12 rebounds marked the ninth 40-point, 10-rebound game of his career (Cavs are 7-2) and his second this season.

At Quicken Loans Arena, on March 21st, he tallied 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals in a win over the Hawks. In a 97-92 overtime win over the Portland Trail Blazers, he recorded 26 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, two blocks and one steal for his league-high seventh triple-double on the season. In the only road game for the Cavs this week, he scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his 24th double-double this season while dishing out eight assists in a 96-88 victory over New Jersey on March 22nd.

With four wins this week and a current nine-game winning streak, James and the Cavaliers tied the most wins in franchise history with 57 (1988-89 and 1991-92) and hold the NBA’s best overall (57-13) and home record (32-1).

James became the 12th player in NBA history to have three consecutive triple-doubles and recorded his eighth career game of 50-plus points. With three road wins against the L.A. Clippers, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings, Cleveland improved to an Eastern Conference-best 22-4 against the Western Conference. This is James' sixth Player of the Week Award this season.

In three games during the week, James averaged an Eastern Conference-best 33.7 points, 9.0 assists and 8.0 rebounds per game. James has now won the award 18 times in his career: for the fifth time this season, three times in 2007-08, twice in 2006-07, five times in 2005-06 and on three occasions during the 2004-05 campaign.

James finished with 33 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks on February 3rd at Quicken Loans Arena versus Toronto. He became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 12,000 points with his 30th point in the win over the Raptors.

At Madison Square Garden on February 4th, he posted 52 points, nine rebounds, 11 assists and two blocks against the Knicks. The last player to have at least those numbers in a game was Wilt Chamberlain (53 points, 14 assists, 32 rebounds) on March 18th, 1968. James joined Michael Jordan as the only two visitors to Madison Square Garden to have multiple 50-point games. His 52-point game marked the sixth time in his career that he scored 50 or more points (Cavs are 4-2) and his second at New York (March 5th, 2008).

On February 8th, he recorded his 15th double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 assists and added eight rebounds versus the Los Angeles Lakers.

With two wins this week, James and the Cavaliers are off to their best start in franchise history at 39-10.

During January, James ranked first in triple-doubles (3), second in points per game (27.5), steals (2.1), and assists (8.1), tied for fourth in rebounds (9.6) and double-doubles (8), and ranked 10th in blocks (1.5) among Eastern Conference players. The last player to have at least James’ averages in a month, for points, rebounds and assists was Larry Bird in March 1987. He scored 20 or more points in 13 games and 30 or more points six times. In four games during the week, James averaged an Eastern Conference-best 30.5 points, 8.8 assists, 9.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals in 41.4 minutes per game. James has now won the award 17 times in his career: for the fourth time this season, three times in 2007-08, twice in 2006-07, five times in 2005-06 and on three occasions during the 2004-05 campaign.

The Cavaliers went 3-1 on a four-game Western Conference road trip. James recorded 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals on January 19th at Los Angeles Lakers. At Portland on January 21st, he posted his 11th double-double of the season with 34 points and 14 assists while adding seven rebounds and one block. James scored 32 points, including the game-winning basket with time expiring, and totaled nine rebounds, eight assists, two blocks and three steals in a win at Golden State on January 23rd. With his fourth free throw made, he passed Brad Daugherty (2,741) to become the Cavaliers all-time leader in free throws made. CLEVELAND, OH - December 29th, 2008 - Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James was named today as the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, December 22nd through Sunday, December 28th.

In three games during the week, James averaged 26.0 points on .527 shooting, 6.7 assists, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 39.7 minutes per game. James has now won the award 16 times in his career: for the third time this season and already equaling his total for 2007-08, twice in 2006-07, five times in 2005-06 and on three occasions during the 2004-05 campaign.

In receiving the award for the third time this season, James and the Cavaliers are off to their best start in franchise history (26-4). With three wins at home during the week, they extended their undefeated home record to 16-0 and remain the only undefeated team at home this season in the NBA.

James scored 15 of his game-high 27 points in the third quarter against Houston on December 23rd to lead the Cavs to a 99-90 victory. He also added a game-high nine rebounds and five assists.

In the game versus Washington on December 25th, he finished with 18 points, five rebounds and six assists. The Cavaliers were down by seven points with 1:40 remaining in the fourth quarter and closed the game on an 11-0 run against the Wizards to come back and win the game 93-89. James led the rally with nine points, three rebounds and two assists in the final period.

On December 28th, James scored 33 points and tallied six rebounds and nine assists, including 11 points, three rebounds and four assists in the fourth quarter comeback versus Miami. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Cavaliers were down by nine points but Cleveland outscored the Heat 35-19 to win their sixth consecutive game.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant was named the Western Conference Player of the Week. LeBron James was named today as the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week for games played Monday, November 10th through Sunday, November 16th.

In three games during the week, James averaged an NBA-high 33.7 points on .600 shooting, 8.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds in 41.0 minutes per game. James has now won the award 15 times in his career: for the second time this season, three times during 2007-08, twice in 2006-07, five times in 2005-06 and on three occasions during the 2004-05 campaign.

On November 11th, James scored 41 points for the third time this season and tallied five rebounds, six assists and three steals versus Milwaukee. James became the first player since Michael Jordan in 1991 to reach the 40-point mark at least three times in his team’s first eight games of a season.

In the game against the Nuggets on November 13th, he finished with 22 points, eight rebounds, 11 assists and three steals. On November 15th, James scored a game-high 38 points, including 16 points on 6-10 shooting in the fourth quarter, and added five rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and two steals against the Jazz. The Cavs went 3-0 during the week and currently own the NBA’s longest winning streak at seven games.

James' league-best 34.5 ppg last week helped Cleveland to a 4-0 mark. With wins over Dallas, Indiana and Chicago twice, the Cavaliers upped their season record to 5-2 and sit alone atop the Central Division. James added 9.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks per contest.

With his second steal against Dallas on Nov. 3, James became the youngest (23 years, 308 days) and fastest (395 games) to eclipse the following milestones: 10,000 points, 2,500 rebounds, 2,500 assists, 700 steals and 300 blocks.

Every where I click, listen or read pundits are lining up to opine about Lebron going to New York or Brooklyn or New Jersey or anywhere but Cleveland. Granted, LeBron is fueling the fire by waxing so eloquently about those destinations, but to read into everything the man says is pointless. We're two years away from any decision and the Cavs management is definitely on the clock, but so many things can change while NY waits for him to save their basketball lives.

Kelly Dwyer blogged precisely about this yesterday over at the BDL. He acknowledged LeBron's and the Cavs situation and asked his fellow writers to place a moratorium on writing about LeBrons not so impending free agency.

Well fodder is fodder and so many can't help themselves. We Cavs fans need to develop a tougher skin and bring facts to the arguement, not just emotion and fervor.

Some facts:
-Cleveland can offer more money and years to LeBron in terms of contract.
-Since the CBA was created, no player offered a max contract has left his orginal team to take less money. Not even Shaq, despite what Terry Pluto has writen and said. This is just not how the NBA works. A player either forces his way out by demanding a sign and trade or gets his money and dogs it until he's traded.
-Over YaySports The Cavalier has some much more entertaining thoughts to combat the naysayers.

Take a deep breath and don't let the pundits or internet trolls get you worked up, we'll get through this and then we can wait for it all to start again in 2016.

On March 21st, 2008, at 23 years old, LeBron James passed Brad Daugherty to be the Cleveland Cavaliers' All-Time Leading Scorer.

Brad had a great career, but due to severe back issues he was forced to end his career at only 28.

So, cheer for LeBron. He is now officially the face of the franchise (probably forever). But also have a toast to Brad Daugherty, a classy player and person who was part of one of the best eras ever in Cavs History.

Just got done reading "The Franchise" by Brian Windhorst and Terry Pluto. Great book for some insights that only two guys working the Cavs beat for five years could get. I especially liked the section about how Ferry was worried how his time as a Cavs play could both effect his role as a Cavs GM both positively and negatively (also some great insight into Ferry's playing days).

In addition, I think its the perfect sequel to another Cavs book I love "CAVS: From Fitch to Fratello" by Joe Menzer and Burt Graeff. There is a little overlap between the two, but its not a rehash.

So pick it up. I'm a huge fan if Windhorst's writing and maybe if you all buy one he can afford a Porsche or something. Since I moved to LA from Cleveland (i.e. I don't get the Plain Dealer anymore and have to rely on the internet for news) I pretty much only read Brian's stuff for Cavs' news.

Probably coolest of all, LBJ is on the cover of Vogue... with Giselle. He is only the third man to be on the cover of the magazine in its 116 year history.

One the the top requests that I get for CavsHistory is that it be more searchable. It DOES have a search feature in the Players Section where you can search for a player by name, number or position. But it seems that either not a lot of people know about it or its just not that cool.

So, to respond to demand there is now a Google Search widget on the home page. The format is not finalized (need to get it to conform to the site layout a little better. It seems to work pretty good.

If you didn't stay up to watch the Lebron-less Cavs take on the Sonics, you missed a humorous situation. Donyell Marshall's jersey came off when he took his warm-up jacket off to enter the game. Kind of funny, probably embarrassing for Marshall, but Lebron was literally LOL-ing....in excess. Now, we laughed like this the first time we saw the sex scene in "Team America" or even the beans scene in "Blazing Saddles" when we were like 10, but this just didn't strike us as that funny. Maybe because it was late.

Over at Yahoo! Sports Kelly Dwyer is blogging and has an interesting perspective about Larry Hughes. We have to admit, we were pretty psyched when Hughes signed and looked forward to big things. We even considered purchasing a Hughes jersey. Good thing we didn't. That would have been more embarrassing than the Charlie Frye jersey hanging in our closet. Talk about hitching our wagon to the wrong horse.

Obviously, the Hughes experiment hasn't worked out, but we're getting to the point where its just piling on to mention the monumental failure this has become. We get it, he doesn't fit with this team.

We know we're not your source for Cavs news, but we're trying to get ISO-9000 certified so we have to document everything. With that in mind, Mike Brown received a contract extension the other day. Brown is in a tough predicament, when the Cavs win, it's because of Lebron, when they lose, it's because of him. That's the way it is for an NBA coach and he'll be getting paid handsomely for it. Brown has done well as the head coach, we realize his rotations can be head scratching, his offense mind numbing and his hope to recreate some variation of '2 girls 1 cup' on the sideline, by hacking luggies into a cup, disgusting (not nearly as disturbing as the original), but he has delivered on his promise to make the Cavs a defense first team. When the Cavs play defense, they win. It's that simple and it took them far last year.

Like it or lump it, Mike Brown is going to be around for a while. We're hoping he does wel enough to keep Lebron around for a while too.

Well, the off season is officially over and not much has changed with the Cavs roster. Stability has been the buzz word of the organization since Danny Ferry and Dan Gilbert took over, this summer they took it to extreme. So far, they've signed Devin Brown and traded for Cedric Simmons. Gone are David Wesley and Scot Pollard, but if most of your time was spent in a suit, were you really here?

Now the big issue. Sasha and Anderson are no where to be seen, two key components from the season and playoff run from last season. It appears the Cavs are playing a hard ball. They have the leverage and the players and their agents know it, so Sasha and Andy are playing their only card, threaten to play in Europe and not sign the qualifing offer. I'm all for players getting what they can, but this isn't making sense. Both players have entered uncharted waters. We'll see who blinks first.

Today the Cavs held their media day at their new pratice facility and if you want to see Lebron read some promos for ESPN/ABC, check it out.

Also, Lebron was on Saturday Night Live and it was pretty much a train wreck. Thinking back, he played himself in the first sketch after the monologue, then he played himself, then he played a basketball player, then he played an annoying nerd, then a gay Solid Gold dancer. Nothing to memorable from the show. He did wear a pretty fly velvet suit during the monologue.

CLEVELAND - LeBron James' girlfriend, Savannah Brinson, gave birth early Thursday to the couple's second son, Bryce Maximus James.

Keith Estabrook, a spokesman for the Cleveland Cavaliers star and his family, said Bryce weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 21 inches long. He was born at 12:51 a.m. at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital, near his father's hometown of Akron.

"Savannah and the baby are healthy and doing well," Estabrook said.

The boy was born as the Cavaliers prepared to host the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the NBA finals Thursday night. The Spurs are one win from a four-game sweep.

The 22-year-old James and his girlfriend had their first child, LeBron James Jr., in October 2004.

Not since 1992 have the Cavs gotten this far. Just four years and one superstar seperate the Cavs from the basement of the NBA and being an elite, top-four team in the league.

Its hard to remember how bad it was... but it was.

Ricky Davis was our #1 and Z was hurt. We had the Zoo Crew (Gatling and Tractor). But we didn't win

Now, this group can be held up against the Miracle Team of 1976

And with the GREAT, well rounded team of Nance, Price, Daugherty, Ehlo and Hotrod (Ferry was there too!)

Your kids will talk about this team 15 years from now like I am talking about those special teams. It feels good to be a Cavs fan!

LeBron 2nd Team All-NBA (My Comments)

I very rarely have an opinion on this site (that is Crunch's department). I view this site as a historical repository of Cavs stuff. There are lots of Cavs sites (blogs, forums, etc...) where people let off steam and state their theories about Cavaliers junk in general. So, I try and keep out of it.
1. because my command of the written word is bad
2. because... who cares what I think?

But, for the first time, I'm going to comment.

LeBron not being on the All-NBA 1st team is bullsh*t (sorry kids).

First off, he has the same amount of total votes as Amare (who isn't a center) at 494. BUT, he has almost DOUBLE the amount of first team votes (64 to 36) of Amare (who, again, is NOT a center).

Basketball is not Baseball. Its not like position players make a whole hell of a difference. i.e. it wouldn't make sense to vote a pitcher into a catchers position. But having designated positions based on your listed position from the previous year (yes, that's how they do it) to be elligible for a slot is just stupid. So, with that in mind... shoehorning Amare (THE FORWARD) in at center is stupid, too. Hell, Duncan is a center. The only one that won't admit it is the position listing.

LeBron again put up numbers that only Oscar could muster. His team hit 50 wins for the second straight year. Second best record in the East, on and on.

Flat out, he has different standards imposed on him than other players do (Like Jordan for example. Remember when he was dominant EVERY year but they gave the MVP to the Mailman twice seemingly just to break up the monotony? That was bull, too). LBJ puts up 27-7-6 AGAIN, but because before the season everyone EXPECTED 30-8-8 he "fell short". Well he didn't. He was the man when it counted. But, once again, the hype and the hate hurt him.

I know James mailed it in during some games in the middle of the season. Everyone admits that. But he never got the chance to catch eight 'oops a game from Nash either. Dragging a team through the defence intensive east for 80 games AND scoring and passing against triple teams every night can wear a dude out. So "dogging it" he has the best statistical season in the NBA... again. Where's the props votes? Oh... that's right. They are out West.

I get so uptight about this because it hits me where it hurts... STATS. That's what this site is about. Making stats (points, rebounds, VOTES!) available to the common Cavs fan. And by slighting him of his earned historical significance of being a life 1st teamer is crap.

Regardless, its in the books and its part of CavsHistory now. I'll update the site in a day or two when I get the formatting right.

Austin Carr Inducted Into Inaugural NCAA Basketball Hall of Fame

Austin Carr has been announced to be part of the inaugrual class of inductees to the NCAA Basketball hall of fame (with other greats such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar).

Its a very, very high honor and AC is very deserving. Here are some notes on his HOF Notre Dame Career:
"The consensus player of the year for Notre Dame in 1971 and a unanimous first team All-America player, Carr holds the NCAA tournament career record for scoring average at 41.3 points per game. He also holds the tournament game records for points with 61, field goals with 25 and field goals attempted with 44. Carr was named to the ESPN Top 50 college players of all-time in 2005."

Way to go AC. "Mr. Cavalier" is a 100% class act and a Cav through and through. I also think he is cool as hell because he gave me (just a random crazed fan) a hug with tears still in his eyes at the draft party just after we won the lottery. THAT is a guy who loves the wine and gold.

LeBron is Eastern Conference PotM for March 2007

LBJ was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for March 2007.
He posted stats of 30.3 ppg on .484 shooting, 6.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game in 15 games (Cavs went 11-4 in these games).

This is LeBron's 5th PotM award and he is still the only Cav to have ever won the honor.

All things considered, LBJ finished the season strong. He will most likely (in my estimation) finish 4th in MVP voting (Dirk, Nash, Kobe).
Remember he finished 8th his first year, 6th his second year and 2nd his third.
Also, looks like he has first team All-NBA locked up again as well (he was 2nd team his 2nd year and 1st team last season).

THE Ohio State University to Wear LBJ

Kindof a cool story I think. The Buckeyes are going to be a "LeBron" team. This means the jerseys will no longer sport the Nike logo. Now they will sport the LBJ 23 logo.

Also, they'll be a new style of "form fitting" jersey for a tailored look

This is pretty neat. I remember when a bunch of teams (Cinci most notably) became Air Jordan teams and started wearing the Jumpman logo and how cool I thought that was.

James (almost) sets All-Star Voting Record

Hard to believe but an Ohioan, playing in Cleveland has set the record for most votes ever for the NBA All-Star Game. James received a ridiculous 2,558,278 votes.

All this after all we hear is "he's gotta go to LA or Chicago or NY to be popular. Seems like he's doing just fine to me.

Last week Zydrunas Ilgauskas became the the Cleveland Cavaliers all-time leader in offensive rebounds. Being the leader in any cumulative category for a team that's been around for 37 years is a big deal.

Z has been on the Cavs longer than any other player in history with 11 years in tow. By the time he is done he should be the all-time leader in several categories.

To keep perspective, look how much he's changed. I try and use the earliest available picture I can find of the player when they begin their Cavaliers tenure. Just looking at the difference of what he looked like when he first suited up at 20 (before he went off for his first surgery) and what he looks like now lets you now how long he's been here.

On a personal note, Z is one of my all-time favs. A guy who has really embraced Cleveland as his second home. His quote of "...I couldn't sign with another team because I'd be checking the box scores to see how the Cavs did..." let me know that he plans on retiring here as well.

If LBJ and crew can secure a Championship before Z hangs it up, I can easily see number 11 hanging up in the rafters.

Happy November 16th. Its LeBron shoe day and i went out and bought em. Crunch suggested that I write something up, so here I go.

So, I live in LA... 2,500 miles from Cleveland. Wonder how popular LBJ is out here? I went to Footlocker in Santa Monica at 10:30am... AND THEY WERE SOLD OUT ALREADY! OK, they only open up at 10am, so we know that either there are some people more into LBJ than me or shoe "copping" is more popular out on the west coast.

Anyways, $150 bucks later, I had my Zoom LBJ IV's.

Since I have all his kicks, I thought I'd review 'em all briefly.

Air Zoom LeBron IV
Heavy, not very detailed but feel great on the foot. I should explain what I mean by "not very detailed". The reason that LeBron's shoes are so cool is because they have lots of little cool details on them. They aren't just a shoe with his name on them.
3rd best overall

Air Zoom LeBron III
Almost perfect. Tons more detail than the the other three. Even his name on the agletts (the tips of the laces). They are ulra cool looking and feel great to wear.
But... 2nd best overall

Air Zoom LeBron II
Cool freaking shoe. Looks like a bullet-proof vest. Nice velcro strap to tighten around your ankle. Not too heavy either. They are simpler than the AZLIII, but still have some cool nooks and crannies.
#1 LeBron shoe so far!
They are, by FAR, the most comfortable and freakin' great to play in.

Air Zoom Generation
LAME name (how can they not name them "THE LEBRON" or something?). Too thin. Not good to wear or play in. But nostagia goes a long way. These are the shoes he wore in Game #1 and the ones he's wearing in his first "Tomahawk Dunk". The photo of that dunk has become THE iconic image of his career (see below).

Other Info.
None of these are his best feeling shoe. The LBJ 20-5-5 shoe (below), is the best feeling shoe I've ever played in. But, since its not an "official" numbered seasonal shoe, I'm not counting it.
